Mass Detention & PIC

On April 5th, members of the Chicago PIC Collective and the Chicago New Sanctuary Coalition offered a workshop at the Forced Out Unity Forum on Immigration and Incarceration at UIC. Using some of the tools that the Collective developed for our PIC 101 workshop and adding some new elements developed specifically for the forum, over 60 people participated in this session on the intersections between Mass Detentions and the PIC. We are sharing the workshop with you here as a resource for those who might want to address these issues in their communities.

PIC and Immigration Timeline –

Below is a resource that was developed by our friend Billy Dee to address the Corrections Corporation of America‘s desire to build a new 750-bed immigration detention center in Crete, IL. Many across Illinois are strongly opposed to building a private detention (the first) facility in the state. This two page graphic handout provides important information about this campaign.
